Chinese Literature Chinese Erotica: The Pillow Book

Before there were how-to sex videos, what did the Chinese use? Pillow books, of course. These were illustrated manuals were used to teach sexual techniques for "maximizing life energies" They were very explicit but tastefully and beautifully drawn paintings of people engaged in various forms of sex. They were sometimes given to newlyweds as "how-to" manuals. This might explain the beautiful and tasteful artwork often found in these books.
