孔慶翔
William Hung

b.1983, Hong Kong
Reality TV show contestant who is stretching his 15 minutes of fame into months and will probably stretch it into years. An engineering student at the University of California, Berkeley, William was a contestant at the American Idol TV show in 2004. His poor rendition of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs"gained him instant notoriety. What followed is difficult to analyze. He made all the rounds at TV talk shows, made many public appearances (singing!), and released several albums while professing his love of music and serious intention to pursue a music career. Is he a fool being taken advantage by the entertainment industry? Is William in on the racist joke? Does he realize that other Asian Americans are squirming because he gives credence to all the negative stereotypes that people have about Asians? We may never know the truth but at least for now it appears that William is laughing all the way to the bank. Web, images, news, music, videos
