YellowBridge Talker is a text-to-speech (TTS) software add-on for
Internet Explorer. It allows you listen to Chinese words pronounced in Mandarin
on any web page. YellowBridge Talker synthesizes the speech right in your computer for instant
sound generation so it isn't affected by Internet connection speed. If you
are studying Chinese or simply could use a Chinese text reader, you'll find that YellowBridge
Talker to be an invaluable aid to learning the correct Mandarin pronunciation.
END OF LIFE NOTICE. The YellowBridge Talker was initially offered to provide an affordable text-to-speech capability to
complement the pages of YellowBridge.com at a time when most users were still using dial-up lines. With most users
now on high-speed lines, YellowBridge.com now is able to provide interactive pronunciation without the YellowBridge
Talker software. Therefore, this software is no longer marketed. If after a trial period, you still find it appropriate
for your uses, you may still purchase it but please note that the software is sold as is as we no longer provide
updates or bug fixes for it.
Key Features

Free Trial Download and Installation
- To ensure a smooth installation:
- Make sure that your current login has administrative privileges or login into one that has.
- Turn off any antivirus or similar system protection software for the duration of the installation.
- Download YellowBridge Talker.
After you click on the link, a File Download window will appear.
Click on the Open or Run button.
| If you are running
Windows 98 or NT, you may get the message "Windows cannot open this file" when you click on the saved TalkerSetup.msi file. In that case, click on one of the following links to download and install
the correct Windows Installer software from Microsoft and repeat the previous step.

- Follow the installer prompts to complete the installation. If you are running Vista or later, you will likely get additional
prompts from Vista, such as "An unidentified program wants access to your computer". You must
allow it in order to proceed with the installation.
- After installation, you may quckly verify that YellowBridge Talker is working
correctly by returning to this page on a new browser page and clicking on the example text
with the speech icons above.
| The first time you use the Talker,
you will likely get a security warning message just at the very top of the browser page. The message will
say: "This website want to run the following add-on: 'YellowBridge Talker' from 'YellowBridge.com (unverified publisher)'. If you
trust this website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here...". You must allow the add-on to run. |

Usage
There is no separate program to
start.
On any arbitrary web page from any site or even a local file opened via Internet Explorer, simply
select the desired text using your mouse, right click to bring up the context menu and select Pronounce Text.
