The contents of the YellowBridge
Chinese English Dictionary for Learners is now freely available as a Google
Gadget. A Google gadget is simply a miniature application that you can embed in your iGoogle personal homepage
and even your own website. This means that you can now easily search our online dictionary without even coming
to our website directly. (An Internet connection is still required, of course). The gadget
is customizable
so that you can change certain features such as whether it should display its results using traditional or simplified
Chinese characters.
Since gadgets are typically very small (usually less than 300x300 pixels), the results will be limited to the Chinese characters,
pinyin, and English translation. However, the full detailed entry is displayed in a regular web simply by clicking
on the Chinese characters. Users who have installed the optional YellowBridge Talker text-to-speech software can also hear the Chinese pronunciation by clicking on the appropriate pinyin entry.
No web programming skills are need to embed our gadget into iGoogle or your own webpage. Simply
choose the appropriate method below:
